Cisco Certifications

Cisco certifications can be a bit enreversadas and can lose with such name, initials and number, so I'll try to clarify it a bit but I will rather external link to the website of Cisco where they explain each certification detail (albeit in English because in Spanish there is little or at least I have not found, apart from the Cisco website is a mess).

• There are three levels of certification: Associate, Professional, and Expert (CCIE representing the highest level).
• There are six different paths: Routing and Switching, Design, Network Security, Service Provider, Storage Networking and Voice. To match the right path to certification performs work or to the appropriate sector.
• Then there are specialized certifications: In addition to general certifications, network professionals can improve their basic knowledge of networking to achieve certification as a specialist in technologies such as security, IP telephony, and wireless technology.

 

CCNA 

validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. This new curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to concepts and terminology of wireless networks, and competency-based performance. This new curriculum also includes (but not limited to) the use of these protocols: IP, EIGRP (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, RIP version 2 (RIPv2), VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs) Requirements: None Exams: 640-802 CCNA Validity: The CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the current CCNA exam, or passing the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam.

CCDA

The CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate) certification indicates a foundation or apprentice knowledge of network design for the Cisco converged network. Certified professionals can design routed and switched network infrastructures and services involving LAN, WAN, and broadband access for businesses and organizations. Requirements: CCNA level knowledge and BCMSN are necessary to prepare the certification exam CCDA Exam :640-863 DESIGN Validity: The CCDA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the current CCDA exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam.

CCNA

Meets the needs of IT professionals who are responsible for network security. Form skills for job placement specialist Network Security, Security Administrator, Support Engineer and Network Security. This certification validates skills including installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices and develops competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

An introduction to core security technologies and how to develop security policies will be acquired and mitigate risks.IT organizations that employ CCNA Security holders will have IT staff can develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats.

Requirements:

Certification CCDA. Exams: 640- 553  Validity: CCNA Security certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the current CCNA exam (wireless, security, voice), or pass any 642 professional level or pass a current CCIE written exam or pass a current CCDE written exam.

CCNA

Confirm that you have the skills necessary to configure functions skilled jobs in voice technologies such as voice technologies administrator, voice engineer, administrator voice. Skills in VoIP technologies such as IP PBX solutions, IP telephony, handset, call control and voicemail is validated. Candidates also come to the exhibition of architecture and design Cisco Unified covering mobility, presence, telepresence and communications applications.

It allows companies to validate that your people have a solid foundation in voice applications and infrastructure concepts, and are capable of performing the reference installation, operation, and maintenance on Cisco VoIP solutions, particularly the Smart Business Communications System at 8-250 lines.

Requirements:.

Certification CCNA Exams : 640-460 IIUC Validity: CCNA Voice certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass the current CCNA exam (wireless, security, voice), or pass any 642 professional level or pass a current CCIE written exam or pass a current CCDE written exam.

CCNP

Validates a network professional's ability to install, configure and troubleshoot converged local and wide area networks with 100 to 500 or more nodes. Professionals network with the CCNP have demonstrated the knowledge and skills required to manage the routers and switches that form the network core and edge applications that integrate voice, wireless and network security.

 Requirements :

Valid CCNA Exams : 642-901,642-812,642-825,642-845  Validity:The CCNP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the curriculum of professional level  or pass a CCIE or CCDE written exam.

CCDP

The CCDP certification indicates advanced knowledge of concepts and principles of design of intelligent networks. A professional network credentials CCDP can discuss, design and create advanced and complex enterprise architectures that include routing, security, network management, data center, IP multicast multilayer and also virtual private networks (VPN) and wireless domains. 

Requirements : 

Valid CCNA or CCDA Exam : 642-901 BSCI , BCMSN 642-812 , 642-873 ARCH Validity : The CCDP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the curriculum of professional level after 01/01/06, or pass a CCIE or CCDE written exam.

CCSP

validates advanced theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to secure Cisco networks. With CCSP network professional demonstrates the necessary steps to secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs skills. The CCSP curriculum emphasizes Cisco Router IOS (ISR) and security features of a Catalyst switch, Adaptive Security Device (ASA), secure VPN connectivity, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Cisco Security Agent ( CSA), Enterprise Security and Device Management, Network Admission Control (NAC) as well as techniques to optimize these technologies in a single solution for integrated network security. In addition, CCSP leverages the new CCNA Security certification as a prerequisite. NOTE : Candidates for CCSP now need only four tests (three compulsory and one to choose), with the introduction of the new CCNA Security as a prerequisite, rather of the five tests currently required (mandatory four choose one).

To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the curriculum of professional, or pass a CCIE or CCDE written exam.

 CCIP

The CCIP (Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional) certification provides people who work in the service provider with competencies in infrastructure IP networking solutions. CCIP professionals have detailed understanding of networking technologies in the area of service provider, including IP routing, IP QoS, BGP and MPLS.

Requirements:

Certification CCNA Exams : 642-901 BSCI , 642-642 QoS , 640-446 CIPT1 , 640-661 BGP , MPLS 640-611Validity : The CCIP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the curriculum of professional, or pass a CCIE 400-101 or CCDE written exam.

CCVP 

The CCVP certification recognizes the increased importance placed on IT professionals of today who are responsible for integrating voice technology in network architectures. People with the CCVP certification can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. 

Earning a CCVP certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network. The certification content focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Unified CallManager), quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches.

Requirements :

CCNA Voice Certification Exams : 640-436 CVOICE , CIPT1 640-446 , 642-642 QoS , CIPT2 640-456 , 640-426 TUC Validity : The CCVP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the curriculum of professional, or pass a CCIE or CCDE written exam.

Requirements for Certification

No prerequisites for CCIE certification requirements; Other professional certifications or training courses are not required.Instead, candidates must first pass a written knowledge test and then the corresponding laboratory practice. Are expected to have a thorough knowledge of the topics included in the review and plans to have three to five years of work experience before attempting certification. CCIE Routing and Switching

Certifies expert-level knowledge of various LAN and WAN networks and variety of routers and switches.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, covering knowledge networking concepts and some equipment commands before possible laboratory examination.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The eight-hour lab exam tests your actual ability to configure the computer and get the network running in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years since the writing is adopted to achieve certification. His first attempt laboratory must occur within the first 18 months.

CCDE

Network design and architecture experience at expert level.
CCDE Principles and Design Fundamentals advanced network infrastructure for large networks is evaluated. A CCDE can demonstrate the ability to develop solutions that address planning, design, integration, optimization, operations, security and focused at the level of infrastructure to support customer networks.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, knowledge covering the concepts and principles of design of advanced network infrastructure before possible laboratory examination.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The laboratory test of CCDE is still under development, however, is eight hours durancion that will test your ability to identify, manage and create advanced solutions for large-scale networks.You must pass the lab within three years of passing the written exam to become certified.

Security CCIE

Certifies experience with specific protocols and security components, as well as IP and IP routing.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, covering knowledge networking concepts and some commands before possible laboratory examination.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The eight-hour lab exam tests your actual ability to configure the computer and put a secure network running in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years since the writing is adopted to achieve certification. His first attempt laboratory must occur within the first 18 months.

CCIE Service Provider 

 Certifies expert-level knowledge and skills for building an extensible infrastructure services provider to deliver rich managed services.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, covering knowledge of computer concepts and commands related to networking infrastructure based on packets before possible laboratory examination.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The eight-hour lab exam tests your actual ability to configure the device and add a network service provider operating in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years since the writing is adopted to achieve certification. His first attempt laboratory must occur within the first 18 months.

 Network Storage CCIE 

Certifies expert-level knowledge of intelligent storage solutions using multiple options of transport over long distances.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, covering concepts of knowledge management, applications and network storage design before possible laboratory examination.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The eight-hour lab exam tests your actual ability to configure the computer and put a storage area network running in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years since the writing is adopted to achieve certification. His first attempt laboratory must occur within the first 18 months.

CCIE Voice 

 Certifies expert-level knowledge of voice over IP solutions in the enterprise.
1.    Step 1 - written exam : You must pass the written exam of two hours, knowledge covering those technologies and applications that make up a Cisco VoIP solution possible before the lab exam.
2.    Step 2 - Laboratory : The eight-hour lab exam tests your actual ability to configure a VoIP solution running in a timed test situation. You must pass the lab within three years since the writing is adopted to achieve certification. His first attempt laboratory must occur within the first 18 months.
