How Cisco Streamlined UTI's Communication System

The government owned investment fund (MF), UTI has managed to bring changes to its business operations while improving its efficiency and saving costs. This was possible thanks to a collaboration with Cisco's main technology, where UTI implemented Cisco's "Unified Transport Interface Communication System" and benefited greatly from the solution.

UTI, 60, the government-owned investment fund has been undecided in the old TDM-based telephony that was seriously altering its prospects and wanted to introduce a new era system that could change the dynamics of the organization and vastly improve the strategies to market their financial products. The MF giant found Cisco's unified transport interface communication system as the ideal solution to meet their requirements.

The challenges of UTI

There were several factors that made TDM-based telephony, not the ideal system in the future. Not having caller ID, slow connectivity, including call drops were some of the main problems along with the high cost where a 30 minute session cost Rs 60,000 Rs 1 lakh made the ITU reconsider its communication system and land in the unified transport communication system from Cisco. A unified communications architecture that could integrate audio, video and web conferencing was their need and Cisco delivered the same.

UTI wanted the platform to enable the company Discuss the product feature, launch and sell strategies and facilitate forex transactions.

UTI looked for an integrated collaboration solution to counteract disparate voice and messaging and TDM telephony systems. The company needed a unified platform to analyze the characteristics of the products, launch and sale strategies, and facilitate the dealings with Forex. UIs also needed faster decision making to provide agility to the organization. The presence of senior managers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to obtain timely contributions was vital. UTI chose Cisco as a solution partner to implement a unified communication platform.

The Cisco offer

The unified transport interface communication system includes multiple features that include instant connectivity in mobile telephony, audio, video and IP platforms, segment segmented architecture for customer segments, sales force and UTI employees. UTI could easily transfer the existing concessionaire infrastructure into a single unified platform, the system completely eliminated the connectivity system where it allowed interested parties to join the meeting through any device from any location.

The result

In a short time of its implementation, UTI began to enjoy the benefits of incorporating the new communication system. The cost of telephony decreased by 40 percent and 60 percent in calls. The disconnection of calls was out of the question because the new system allowed UTI to perform videoconferences without interruptions lasting from 1 to 4 hours. The Cisco solution had a clear evident effect on decision making as communication became more fluid.

UTI plans forward

The company has larger plans in store, since it expected to connect 150 offices throughout India using the Cisco infrastructure. Uninterrupted connectivity will help the UTI to have better supervision from its central office, which will be a key element in the future growth of the company.
